Unlocking talent: The role of test and assessment in a recruitment process

Every organisation strives to secure the best talent to their team. However, traditional recruitment methods, often based on intuition, may struggle to predict an individual's potential for success in a role.

At Birn+Partners we recognise the significance of finding not just qualified candidates, but those who align seamlessly with the organisation´s culture and goals. To achieve this, we have integrated psychometric testing and qualitative interviews into our recruitment framework. It empowers us to predict the new employee performance capabilities and provide our clients with the data to estimate and navigate business decisions precisely.

Not just filling positions

In an interview with our Head of Test and Assessment, Jonna Ramm-Schmidt-Sundholm, she explains that psychometric testing is not just about evaluating skills and qualifications; it is about delving deeper into the nuances of an individual's cognitive abilities, personality, and behavioral tendencies.  “In our work it is important that we select candidates based on their skills, personality and potential, as we are not just filling positions – we are shaping the future of our clients’ organisation”, Jonna says and continues “we use tests in many aspects also when working with mentoring, coaching, and consulting”.

One of the most compelling aspects of psychometric testing is its ability to forecast an individual's performance in a given role. Whether assessing leadership potential, adaptability, or resilience, these assessments serve as reliable predictors of an individual's capacity to excel within a dynamic environment.

The benefits of psychometric testing extend beyond organisational success; they also create a positive experience for candidates. By providing a fair and transparent selection process, candidates feel valued and respected, knowing that their abilities are being accurately evaluated.

Moreover, by aligning candidates with roles suiting their strengths, we set them up for success from day one, fostering a sense of fulfillment and engagement.

Onboarding: Setting the stage for success

Transitioning into a new role can be daunting, and therefore we integrate the test results in an onboarding program called FIRST100. By identifying potential challenges early on, we can tailor their onboarding approach to address the specific needs of each new employee. Whether it is providing additional training, mentorship, or resources, we ensure that the new employee receives the support they need to thrive in their new role. It plays a crucial role in facilitating a smooth integration process.

Testing is not just a best practice – it is a strategic imperative in executive recruitment. By utilising the power of data-driven insights, we do not only secure top talent for our clients’ organisation, we also foster employee engagement, success, and growth.
